Initially use AI, to augment humans — to give engineers more accurate data to work with, or to shortcut their decision-making process so that they can make the right decision more frequently. Quantum computing AI is a really exciting opportunity to take computation to a whole new level. There are interesting things happening with some [racing] organizations around that. In the next two years that we’re going to be developing, designing, and running the car and doing the race analytics on a quantum computer. But a hybrid computer that has quantum elements to it? Absolutely, and within a couple of years. I’m really excited about what we’re doing already.

Alauda Racing, the Australian startup eVTOL, has revealed the Airspeeder Mk3, which it calls “the world’s first electric flying race car ready to race.

The sleek single-seat quadcopter is designed to compete with ten other counterparts at a tournament later this year, though without human pilots on board, unsurprisingly high safety risks.

“The world’s first electric flying car races will take place this year and will be the most exciting and progressive motorsport on the planet” .

The Airspeeder Mk3 is certainly a looker, rocking a 50s F1 racing car vibe and boasting a strong and stiff carbon fiber frame and fuselage that keeps things light at 100 kg (220 lb) unmanned, and lays the groundwork for the full carbon fiber monocoque body of the manned Mk4.

Its 96-kW electric powertrain is expected to see the Mk3 travel at speeds of more than 120 km/h (75 mph), with Alauda saying that the X-shaped configuration of the vehicle’s eight rotors – mounted in four pairs – will enable F1-like hairpin turns while being airborne should offer even more thrills.

Model S “Plaid” now has a horizontal touchscreen like the one found in the Model 3 and Model Y, but with a bigger 17-inch version with smaller bezels. Unlike the Model 3 and Model Y, there’s a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. A third screen is found behind the center console for rear passengers. Tesla showed off a new UI for the screens on Thursday night, which features drag-and-drop elements and other refinements.

The Model S Plaid has extremely powerful processing that can run AAA games on the car’s screens at 60 frames per second, in addition to powering all of the other services Tesla allows, such as Netflix, Spotify.

“Really, it’s like a home theater experience,” Musk said.

Tesla has also changed a lot under the proverbial hood. The Model S Plaid is powered by a new tri-motor drivetrain that Tesla originally started developing for the forthcoming second-generation Roadster. (The company tested the Plaid powertrain in a Model S sedan at famous racetracks: Laguna Seca and the Nurburgring.) Those three motors collectively put down around 1,000 horsepower, and the car can reach a top speed of 200 miles per hour — though only when outfitted certain wheels and tires that won’t be available until later this year.

“It hits you right in the limbic system,” Musk said.

The main structural difference between Dyana and Spot and other four-legged robots lies in the hind legs – they consist of three, rather than two, segments. The upper and lower segments are mechanically connected to each other so that during movement they are always at the same angle to each other. All segments are driven by servos at the base of the legs.

The current developers only showed how the robot moves its legs, being fixed on a pedestal, but did not demonstrate real walking. According to calculations, the robot’s battery lasts for about half an hour of walking.

Chinese firm Unitree Robotics has also been involved in related development for many years and this week unveiled its latest creation, the Unitree Go1, a four-legged robot. The device is relatively cheap. Its price is only $ 2700. By comparison, the Boston Dynamics Spot robot costs $ 74,500.

However, the relatively low price can be explained by the poor functionality of the robot. The demo video states that the Unitree Go1 is capable of “following someone during a run” and “carrying one bottle of water.” Perhaps this is still a complete list of the robot’s capabilities. Unitree Robotics says it wants to make four-legged robots as affordable and popular as smartphones and drones. It remains only to work on the usefulness.

So far, the company only has the basic robot specification available on its website. The Unitree Go1 comes in three versions: the Go1 Air for $ 2700, the Go1 for $ 3500 and the Go1 Edu for $ 8500. Each weighs about 12 kg. More expensive models have more processor power and better sensors. Air taxi is a collective term commonly understood as a small electric aircraft capable of taking off and landing vertically in a small area and carrying several people within or near a city. One of the leading companies in the field of air taxi, China’s EHang, used a multicopter design in its passenger and cargo vehicles, and now has shown a new VT-30 electric air taxi with a wing. It is built according to the aircraft layout with two longitudinal beams for vertical propellers and a Λ-shaped tail assembly. There are four propellers on the beams, used during vertical takeoff and landing, and one pushing propeller is installed behind the cockpit, which starts working after takeoff. By design, the VT-30 is closest to the American Cora air taxi.

A cabin for two passengers is located in the center of the device. According to the developers, the VT-30 does not need a pilot and is capable of performing all phases of flight autonomously.

The device’s batteries are enough for 100 minutes of flight, which allows it to fly up to 300 kilometers. EHang is positioning the VT-30 not as a replacement for its city air taxi, but as an add-on for flights between cities with the ability to land right in the city, and not on the outskirts, as is the case with conventional aviation.

By the time of the announcement, the company’s engineers had already assembled a full-size prototype air taxi and tested it in vertical take-off and landing mode without switching to horizontal flight.

And, as a rule, each type of implantable device requires its own separate transmitter operating at a certain frequency, which is often not very convenient. Now, doctors will have the ability to sequentially activate several implants connected to one single receiving and transmitting device.

In the case of normal use of implantable devices, it is not necessary to install several implants at once. But there are rare cases when, for example, it is necessary to ensure the passage of signals through the spinal cord bypassing the area damaged as a result of injury or illness, giving the patient the opportunity to walk again or move previously paralyzed limbs. Also, this technology can be very useful when it becomes necessary to stimulate individual chambers of the patient’s diseased heart at different times in order for it to work properly.

The new experimental wireless system was created by researchers at Rice University and is designed to work with implants driven by an external alternating magnetic field. This magnetic field is usually generated by a special transmitter powered by a rechargeable battery that the patient wears around his belt.

At this time, the distance at which the wireless system can operate is only 60 millimeters, but this value will be increased later as improvements and modifications to the system are made.

When the transmitter starts generating electromagnetic pulses, all implants connected to the receiver are activated simultaneously. Nevertheless, all these implants do not start working immediately, “tearing apart” the crumbs of energy that the receiving device can generate, each implant is programmed to operate with a strictly specified delay from the moment the first pulse is received. And it turns out that after the start of work, all the implants are triggered one by one, and the delay between these triggers is calculated in tens and units of milliseconds, which in the time frame of life processes can be considered almost instantaneous triggering.

The effectiveness of this approach has been confirmed so far only in laboratory conditions on experimental rodents and on hydras, tiny freshwater living creatures with several tentacles.

“Through our work, we have demonstrated that it is possible to program several implantable devices so that they perform a synchronized and coordinated procedure of complex stimulation,” the researchers write, “We synchronize the devices so that their joint work resembles the sound of a harmonious symphony orchestra. This, in turn, gives us a huge number of degrees of freedom, allowing us to cover almost all areas, from stimulating the heartbeat to ensuring the passage of signals through damaged areas of the spinal cord ”.
